Split Hiking Society called “Mosor” has a very long tradition. The most important success in alpinism achieved the legendary Stipe Božić who scaled the highest world’s peak Mount Everest in 1979. That wasn’t the only time he scaled “the top of the world”. He took an important place in world’s alpinist elite symbolically engaging himself in alpinism for more than a half of century although it doesn’t bring him any material profit or prestige enjoyed by other sportsmen. His sport results are conquered peaks of seven continents, many of which he scaled even two times, he wittily commenting that he had to do it after the independence of Croatia in order to put on even the Croatian flag. He is, logically, professionally engaged in television filming. His professional filming, his reportages have won numerous national and international prizes. He’s been a member of Mountain Rescue Services for ages. He is also the author of numerous books where he reveals various dramatic and triumphal moments of his mountings.
